In this video, we take a walk through the historic center of Munich. Our tour begins at Karlsplatz (Stachus) and enters the old town through Karlstor, one of the former medieval city gates built in the late 14th century. From here, we continue along Neuhauser Straße and Kaufingerstraße, two of Munich's busiest pedestrian streets, heading toward Marienplatz.
Along the way, we pass Bürgersaalkirche, built in the early 18th century, and soon arrive at St. Michael's Church, constructed in the late 16th century. We step inside briefly before continuing our walk. A little further on, we reach Frauenkirche (Munich Cathedral), built in the late 15th century. With its distinctive twin towers, this late Gothic cathedral is one of the most recognizable landmarks of Munich, and we take a short look inside before returning to the street.
Continuing along the main route, we arrive at Marienplatz, the historic heart of Munich. The square is dominated by the New Town Hall (Neues Rathaus), a grand Neo-Gothic building constructed between 1867 and 1909. Home to the city's municipal government, it is famous for its richly decorated facade and the Glockenspiel, the mechanical clock performance that attracts visitors from around the world. On the eastern side of the square stands the Old Town Hall (Altes Rathaus), whose origins date back to the early 14th century. Our walk passes beneath its historic archway as we leave the square.
Our final stop is the Heilig Geist Church, originally founded in the 13th century and later remodeled with Gothic and Rococo elements. After a brief visit inside, we continue toward Viktualienmarkt, where the walk comes to an end. Munich’s churches, historic landmarks, and lively city atmosphere come together along this route.
As always, there's no narration or guidance. Just footsteps, ambient sounds and flow. For the best experience, I recommend watching with headphones.
