In this video, we walk through the Viktualienmarkt, Munich’s famous food market and square in the heart of the old town. Originally opened in 1807 by order of King Maximilian I as a farmers’ market, today it has become a historic landmark, a lively social hub and a place to taste Bavarian traditions. Here you will find fresh fruit, vegetables, flowers, meat and fish stalls, traditional restaurants, a lively Beer Garden (Biergarten), fountains, and the Maypole (Maibaum).
