In this video, we explore the historic streets of Lübeck's old town (Lübecker Altstadt | Innenstadt). Founded in the 12th century and now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Lübeck is one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Northern Germany. Moving beyond its famous landmarks, we step into narrow and quiet streets where brick Gothic architecture blends with everyday life. Here, the atmosphere of the Middle Ages can still be felt in the rhythm of the streets.
Today's walk takes us away from the busy shopping avenues and into the charming side streets and more local corners of the city. Among historic houses, brick buildings, small businesses and distinctive facades, we experience the true character of Lübeck. Our route begins in front of the impressive brick facade of Burgtor, from where we enter the inner streets of the city. Making our way through side streets, we arrive at the square where the Rathaus stands. For centuries the political and commercial center of Lübeck, the Town Hall reflects the city's strong historical legacy through its architectural layers from different periods.
We then continue to Hüxstraße, one of Lübeck's liveliest streets. Rather than large chain stores, this street is known for its local shops, cafés, and boutique restaurants. On Hüxstraße, modern daily life and historic heritage exist side by side.
In this walk, it is not only the monumental buildings that stand out, but also the character of the streets, the rhythm of the cobblestones and the warmth of local life. Together, we discover this hidden atmosphere within Lübeck's Altstadt.
As always, there's no narration or guidance. Just footsteps, ambient sounds and flow. For the best experience, I recommend watching with headphones.
